Angola: assassinatos extrajudiciais juvenis vs. constante ameaça à paz social

Washington D.C —A juventude constitui o maior número da população angolana. A sua taxa  de desemprego rondou 59,80 % no quarto trimestre de 2021 contra 59,20 % no terceiro trimestre de 2021”, de acordo com a Trade Economics. 

E o governo parece estar a perder a batalha com o factor de influência criminal juvenil; ao invés de responsabilização criminal, opta pelos assassinatos extrajudiciais feitos nas ruas em plena luz do dia. 

Como melhor forma “política” de silenciar e aterrorizar a juventude — a sua família directa, sobretudo — o governo ativou há algum tempo o  esquadrão da morte colocado no SIC – Serviço de Investigação Criminal Angola. Provas? O estilo de execução arbitrária e cruel  durante o dia.

Equivocamos quando O Ministro do Interior, Eugénio César Laborinho, disse que a polícia não existia para oferecer rebuçados. E desde então quantos jovens foram assassinados em via pública?

Se os nossos meios de comunicação social públicos  servissem de plataforma para educar e atingir consenso sobre assuntos de pobreza juvenil e tantos outros flagelos sociais contemporâneos, o índice de assassinato e homicídio dessa camada populacional não seria agora motivo de extrema preocupação.

Angola: extrajudicial juvenile killings vs. constant threat to social peace

Angola’s population is mainly made up of young people. However, Trade Economics reported 59.80 % youth unemployment during the fourth quarter of 2021, down from 59.20 % in the third quarter.

And the government seems to be losing the battle with the factor of juvenile criminal influence; instead of criminal accountability, it opts for extrajudicial killings on the streets in broad daylight. 

As the best “political” way to silence and terrorize the youth – their direct family, above all – the government activated the death squad placed some time ago in the SIC – Angola’s Criminal Investigation Service. Evidence? The arbitrary and cruel execution-style in the daylight.

We were wrong when The Minister of the Interior, Eugenio César Laborinho, said that the police did not exist to offer sweets. And since then, how many young people have been murdered on public streets? 

If our public media served as a platform to educate and reach consensus on issues of youth poverty and so many other contemporary social scourges, the murder and homicide rate of this population layer would not now be cause for extreme concern.
